INTERVIEW | Head of Studies Analyzes the Historical and Geopolitical Significance of the Sovereignty over the Strait of Magellan

In the program “Good Morning Region” of Polar Comunicaciones, the Head of Studies at AthenaLab, John Griffiths Spielman, discussed the importance of the sovereignty over the Strait of Magellan, reviewing its impact from a historical and geopolitical perspective.

Griffiths emphasized that this event “consolidates our sovereignty, our rights, our position,” recalling that it marked a milestone in the construction of the Chilean state and in defining the strategic spaces of the nation.

He also stated that, despite the significance of the event, there are still outstanding issues regarding its valuation and dissemination. In this regard, he noted that it is necessary to continue promoting public knowledge about the relevance of the Strait of Magellan for Chile, not only as a historical heritage but also as a central axis in the country’s maritime policy and security.
