LANZAMIENTO | “Vietnam, Israel y Trump”, José Rodríguez Elizondo

On December 11, at the Cultural Corporation of Las Condes, the presentation of our advisor José Rodríguez Elizondo’s latest book “Vietnam, Israel, and Trump: Their Wars Live and Direct” took place in front of a significant audience, with notable comments from Vivianne Blanlot, Osvaldo Puccio, and Claudio Grossman.

This work seems to bring together three disconnected worlds until it is understood that they are united by a common thread: how power is exercised in times of war. The author did not write this book from a desk; he wrote it from the shelters of Hanoi, conversing with priests who spoke of love for one’s neighbor while justifying armed struggle; interviewing American pilots who repeated, almost verbatim, the defenses of Nuremberg. He also drew from his diplomatic experience in Israel, where he understood how deep identities, historical narratives, and the complex search for security coexist in a region marked by ongoing challenges.

This book combines personal memory, historical analysis, and humor, with the critical lucidity that characterizes the author. It not only recounts what he saw but also explains why it remains urgent to understand it today, as nuclear deterrence reasserts itself and international figures introduce new styles that reconfigure traditional dynamics of foreign policy. It reminds us that conflicts do not begin where we think, nor do they end when we stop observing them.

It is a journey through war, but also through humanity. It is about the world we have inherited and the one we are building.
