What would happen if the Chilean Air Force did not exist?

El Libero, Thursday, July 25, 2019

Dear Director,

The recent water outage in a city with only 1% of Chile’s population was a national crisis. Can you imagine what would happen if air travel for passengers and cargo, which has grown by at least 200% in the last 10 years, were to be halted due to a situation that prevented its operation? Can you envision the hysteria and disorder that would ensue?

Perhaps it is time for us to begin valuing the work that the Chilean Air Force does, both through the DGAC and in ensuring the security of our skies and the protection of Chile’s aerospace sovereignty. Some things are taken for granted, but because they are taken for granted, they can be forgotten. Let us ensure that the Chilean Air Force receives the recognition it deserves and the resources that guarantee that the obvious does not go unattended. The Chilean Air Force has consistently demonstrated its service to Chile, including recently being the only entity available to carry out the transport flight for the organs of the recently deceased Joaquin Bustos Palma.
