Dear Director:

The Chilean Army held a seminar today focused on integrity and transparency in Defense, demonstrating the seriousness with which it is addressing the challenge of improving its control capabilities and preventing illicit activities.

The framework being implemented includes a crime prevention system; processes capable of managing the increasing demands for transparency; intensive use and integration of information technologies, and an innovative inclusion of high-level civilians who would report to the commander in chief, following existing models in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
