John Griffiths is consulted by Radio ADN and Biobío regarding the COSENA meeting.

On Radio ADN, the head of studies at Athenalab emphasizes the importance of having a permanent National Security Council. “It is not about convening the National Security Council only when I have a problem,” he said.

“The goal is to have a National Security Council that has a national security architecture and an efficient intelligence system working every day, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the year,” he specified.

He explained that the Armed Forces are the “last resort,” when there is “nothing else left.” He clarified that they are not the solution to all problems and that the issue will not be resolved by deploying the Armed Forces on the streets. He concluded by reflecting that before employing the Armed Forces, political power must ensure the exercise of the rule of law.

For the head of studies, the rule of law is the true tool for dealing with threats; however, he clarifies that there must be the political will to want to exercise it.
