In the heights of Jahuel, from July 9 to 11, we conducted the seventh edition of the AthenaLab Academy, this time under the title “Global Conflicts, Local Challenges: Chile and Security in Times of Crisis,” which included the participation of 32 young individuals from various regions, fields of study, and universities across the country, and addressed the fundamentals, dimensions, and instruments of security, as well as threats to national security (drug trafficking and organized crime) and inter- and intra-state conflicts.
The event also featured special guests such as Professor Iván Witker, an expert in international relations and security, who spoke about intelligence and the State of Chile, and Pablo Zevallos, an international consultant and expert in organized crime, who gave a talk on the expansion of organized crime in Chile.
Other analyses focused on the security crisis and the challenges Chile currently faces in these areas, as well as intense reflections on ongoing international conflicts, primarily through practical workshops and group discussions where the students undoubtedly excelled.
We congratulate all those who participated in this edition and invite everyone to apply for future calls.
