AthenaLab brings together 32 young individuals in the ninth edition of its Academy

AthenaLab successfully conducted the ninth edition of its Academy, an event that gathered 32 young individuals from various regions and disciplines to delve into the main challenges facing Chile in the areas of international relations, geopolitics, and security. Under the title “Chile in the New Global Scenario: Geopolitics, Conflicts, and Security”, participants engaged in an intensive three-day program that combined lectures, applied workshops, and discussion spaces aimed at strengthening strategic thinking.

The program covered topics such as the international context and global trends, the fundamentals of international relations, contemporary conflicts, non-traditional threats, regional geopolitics, and national security challenges. The sessions were led by researchers from AthenaLab —John Griffiths, Richard Kouyoumdjian, Diego Sazo, Alejandro Amigo, and Marcelo Masalleras— along with distinguished guests such as historian Alejandro San Francisco, Minister Counselor Jorge Iglesias Mori from the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy, and Undersecretary of Public Security, Pilar Giannini.

In addition to the presentations, students participated in analysis workshops and group presentations, applying the knowledge acquired and developing proposals in response to complex strategic scenarios. The Academy concluded with a graduation ceremony, solidifying a new generation of young individuals committed to the study of security, defense, and international affairs, and strengthening the alumni community of AthenaLab.
