Executive Director of AthenaLab and Director of International Affairs meet with Arthur Laffer

As part of an agenda for exchanging ideas on economic policy, development, and competitiveness, the Executive Director of AthenaLab, John Griffiths, along with the Director of International Affairs, Ignacio Mardones, held a meeting with the prominent American economist Arthur B. Laffer, internationally recognized as the creator of the so-called Laffer Curve, one of the most influential concepts in modern economics.

During the meeting, various topics related to economic growth, competitiveness, tax policies, and the challenges facing Western economies in strengthening investment, innovation, and productivity in an international context characterized by geopolitical uncertainty and rapid technological transformation were discussed.

The meeting allowed for the exchange of views on the role that think tanks play in public policy formulation and the importance of promoting informed dialogue among the academic world, the private sector, and decision-makers.

Arthur Laffer, one of the most influential economists of recent decades, gained worldwide recognition for the development of the Laffer Curve, a theory that explains the relationship between tax rates and tax revenue, and whose impact has influenced the design of economic policies in various countries. His career includes significant academic work and advisory roles to governments and international leaders, establishing him as one of the most relevant voices in economic policy.

At the end of the meeting, John Griffiths emphasized that “for AthenaLab, it is a privilege to exchange ideas with an intellectual figure of Arthur Laffer’s relevance. Such meetings enrich our work and strengthen our mission to contribute to the public policy debate from a rigorous, independent perspective focused on the development of Chile.”

With this meeting, AthenaLab reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its ties with prominent academics, opinion leaders, and international think tanks, promoting the exchange of experiences and the analysis of public policies that contribute to the economic development, security, and competitiveness of Chile.
