PANORAMA 2025

In addition to its extensive portfolio of publications, which includes working papers, surveys, and books, AthenaLab has decided to add a report with projections for 2025. This is not intended to predict future events, but rather to identify trends and possible futures, taking into account available data, human behaviors, and, of course, anticipated dates on the calendar.

To our more theoretical research, we have added the experience gathered in the field in 2024, which includes visits to areas of manifest conflict, such as Ukraine and Israel/Palestine, and latent conflict, Taiwan. Additionally, our attendance and participation in seminars and conferences in various capitals, such as Santiago, Brasília, Brussels, Lima, London, and Madrid, have allowed us to engage in the most important discussions on global, regional, and national issues with some of the leading authorities in the field.

We have consolidated all of the above in this report, identifying at least 10 essential points, always with a focus on international relations, security, and defense, where AthenaLab’s unique perspective and signature reside.

Of course, we took a moment to focus more on Chile, as our country will return to the polls in 2025 to elect a President and renew Congress. Every election presents an opportunity to correct the course, especially amid a situation of sluggish economic growth and rising crime, all within the context of a more volatile world. For this reason, we will be attentive to the candidates’ proposals.

The coming year will be crucial locally due to the electoral process we will face, and also globally, due to the repercussions of the decisions made by Donald Trump when he resumes leadership of the United States. It will be impossible to be bored in 2025.
